We had been living overseas for a couple of years and then a global pandemic came along and changed everything as it did for all of us. Every time we returned to the UK to see family we stayed in holiday cottages and our experience ranged from superb to shocking! We would sit in a pub near the holiday cottage and say “we could do this and give people a special place to stay!”.  For us a holiday cottage needed to be somewhere interesting with things to do, walking distance to a pub, with a log burner and allow us to bring our furry friends along too!

Growing up in Dorset meant that rolling green hills and long beaches are in my DNA. It also meant that I appreciated the importance of tourism for rural, costal areas, but also the impact that holiday homes could make to a community. For that reason we recommend local suppliers, pubs and restaurants that visitors can experience and enjoy, so we all continue to support small business and entrepreneurs in rural areas. When visitors arrive at Pebble Cottage there will always be tea, coffee and something to eat for a bit of nourishment after a journey, along with logs for a cosy fire.

We wanted to make the cottage a home from home. You pack up your bits, but you don’t need to worry about if the weather is nice, shall we have a picnic, should we take that with us? You can sit in the garden, listening to the radio that has batteries in it, so you can take it around the cottage. Or blue tooth your music through the radio! There’s a pencil sharpener  just in case your eye liner goes blunt! For me, staying in a cottage where the owners have tried to anticipate your needs is a good cottage and is one I would go back to time and again. It’s easy to stay in and allows people to relax the minute they step through the door…
